Vince McMahon Lawsuit To Resume

Vince McMahon

The ongoing lawsuit against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis and WWE is set to resume as the federal investigation continues.

Back in January, a lawsuit was filed by former WWE employee Janel Grant that accused Vince McMahon of sexual assault and trafficking. The lawsuit ultimately led to McMahon resigning from WWE and TKO. In June, the lawsuit was placed in a 6 month order of stay as the U.S. Department of Justice could carry out their own federal criminal investigation of McMahon. With the 6-month stay now expired, the lawsuit is set to continue according to Grant’s team.
On Wednesday, December 11th, Grant’s attorney, Ann Callis, issued the following statement:
“We are pleased that prosecutors for the Southern District of New York have concluded that they can continue their criminal investigation while we bring forward new evidence in our civil case about the sexual exploitation carried out by Janel Grant’s abusers. For the last six months, Ms. Grant has patiently waited to hold Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE accountable for the sex trafficking and abuse she endured at the company on a near daily basis. Her wait is over, and we now look forward to sharing Ms. Grant’s story.”
It should be noted that filings confirming the continuation of the lawsuit have not appeared on public records and none of the defendants have issued statements acknowledging that the case will continue.

Developments Continued Despite Vince McMahon Lawsuit Being Paused

Although the McMahon lawsuit was placed in a 6-month order of stay, filings were still made in relation to Grant’s visit to the Peak Wellness Clinic that was run by Dr. Carlon Colker. Grant petitioned for evidence from the clinic in relation to her lawsuit, which states that Grant was sent to the clinic for treatment and information about medication and infusions were allegedly held from her. Colker has denied the allegations and sought to have the claim removed from the record.

McMahon filed a motion to enforce the stay during this time, but saw his request denied.

During the court ordered stay, the Vince McMahon Netflix docuseries premiered on Netflix in September, which covered the lawsuit and resignation in the final episode.
