Tiffany Stratton Responds To Criticism Of WWE Match

WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton has addressed the negativity surrounding a recent title match.

On SummerSlam night 1 on August 2, Stratton put her title on the line against Jade Cargill, who earned the right to challenge for the gold by winning the Queen of the Ring tournament earlier in the year, Although it appeared that Cargill was set to win the title as she had been booked strong and was a heavy favourite ahead of time, Stratton was the one who walked out of MetLife Stadium still the champion, defeating Cargill in 7 minutes.

The match garnered some criticism from fans, with the match being too short and not the most memorable being the main sources of the criticism. While appearing on the Babyfaces podcast, Stratton noted that she didn’t think the match needed to be a 40-minute epic, and was pleased with the result:

“I feel like we didn’t have this like insane life or death story going into SummerSlam, so I didn’t really feel like we needed — like you said — an insane 40-minute long match,” Stratton said. “I thought it was a very competitive match, it was very fast. And I think that’s all we really needed. So I’m actually really pleased with how my match went at SummerSlam with Jade Cargill.”

Tiffany Stratton Admits To Nerves Ahead Of WWE SummerSlam

Having only been on the main roster for just over a year, SummerSlam 2025 was also the first time the Women’s Champion competed at the long-running event. Later in the interview, Stratton admitted that nerves were a factor as it was her SummerSlam debut:

“Going into SummerSlam, I was so nervous. It was my first SummerSlam ever,” she said. “So that alone was just so nerve-wracking. But, thankfully, I pulled through and I beat Little Miss Jade Cargill.”

Stratton won the Women’s Championship at the start of the year by cashing in her Money in the Bank contract on Nia Jax following months of teases that a cash-in would take place. The SmackDown star also successfully retained her title over Women’s Royal Rumble winner Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 41.
