Sol Ruca Discusses Future Of WWE Speed

NXT star Sol Ruca has addressed the uncertainty surrounding the show WWE Speed, which is broadcast exclusively on the social media platform X.

First airing back in April 2024, the show saw competitors compete in matches with a 3-minute time limit. A tournament followed shortly after to crown the inaugural Men’s Speed Champion, which was won by Ricochet. Later in the year, another tournament took place to crown the first-ever Women’s Speed Champion, which was won by Candice LeRae.

Although Ruca is still acknowledged as the reigning WWE Women’s Speed Champion while also holding the Women’s North American Championship, there have been no new episodes since July 9. With no indication from the company that more shows are coming, Ruca also admitted that she was unable to provide an update on the status of the show.

“I Don’t Have An Answer”: Sol Ruca On WWE Speed

Appearing on Ten Count MediaRuca clarified that she is still a double champion and addressed the confusion over what was going on, noting that she has not been told anything about new episodes being filmed:

“I’m definitely still a double champion,” Ruca said. “I am, you know, the Speed Champion and the North American Champion. I know there’s a little confusion about what’s going on. I honestly don’t really have an answer either. But until they tell me I’m no longer a double champion, I am still a double champion.”

The double champion went on to speculate about the future of the title, stating that it might be defended on NXT moving forward:

“Maybe we’ll start doing stuff on NXT with it,” she said. “I mean, I was starting to wear it on NXT, which before wasn’t allowed because it was a separate — you know, technically a separate universe being on X. But I think there was a little bit of leeway, and now I think we’re just trying to figure out what we want to do with it. But, I mean, as of now, I’m still technically a double champion. So I’m not complaining.”

The reigning Men’s Speed Champion is El Grande Americano, who has also not defended the title since and has also not worn the title on TV. Additionally, commentary has not noted that he is the Speed Champion.
