WWE SummerSlam 2025 made history as the show expanded to 2 nights for the first time ever.
Following in the footsteps of WrestleMania, SummerSlam is set to be a weekend-long event moving forward with 12 matches scheduled to take place over each night at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on August 2 and 3. The main event saw CM Punk look to win another World Championship as he challenged Gunther for the gold. Additionally, Queen of the Ring Jade Cargill challenged Tiffany Stratton for the Women’s Championship and Roman Reigns competed in his return match, teaming with Jey Uso to take on Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed.
SummerSlam also saw a guest appearance from rapper Cardi B.
Michael Cole and Wade Barrett were on commentary for the show. 53,161 was the announced attendance.
WWE SummerSlam 2025 Night 1 Results:
- Roman Reigns and Jey Uso defeated Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed
- Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss defeated Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez to become the new Women’s Tag Team Champions
- Sami Zayn defeated Karrin Kross, meaning Kross had to admit he was wrong about Zayn
- Tiffany Stratton defeated Jade Cargill to retain the Women’s Championship
- Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul defeated Jelly Roll
- CM Punk defeated Gunther to win the World Heavyweight Championship
- Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on CM Punk to become the new World Heavyweight Champion
