Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair are not friends, but they are the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.
Competing at SummerSlam night 1, Bliss and Flair defeated Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez to become the new Women’s Tag Champs. While Bliss and Flair have each held the titles in the past, this is the first time that the duo have been champions together. The closing moments of the match saw a miscommunication occur where Bliss accidentally hit Flair. However, instead of striking her partner, Flair struck Perez to allow Bliss to capitalise and win the match.
The victory marks the next stage in the unlikely bond forming between the 2 former Women’s Champions. The duo were originally paired together reluctantly, but have gradually warmed to one another as the weeks have progressed. Bliss has now held the Women’s Tag Team Championships 4 times while Flair has held the titles twice.
Alexa Bliss And Charlotte Flair Dethrone The Judgment Day
The victory brings The Judgment Day’s reign as champions to an end at 103 days. The original reign began on the Raw after WrestleMania when Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez defeated Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria to win the titles for a record 4th time. However, 70 days into the reign, Morgan suffered an injury that required surgery, casting doubt on what would happen to the championships. Following Roxanne Perez joining the faction, WWE management allowed Perez to be the replacement partner and champion for Rodriguez.
Bliss and Flair were previously part of a 4 way match for the titles at Evolution, which saw The Judgment Day retain.
