Motor City Machine Guns Make AEW Debut

The rumours were indeed true as the Motor City Machine Guns made their AEW debut in their home city of Detroit.

Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin opened the July 30 Collision to signal they are officially All Elite. Unfamiliar music played at first, which was quickly followed by the Guns’ graphic showing up on the screen to the delight of fans in attendance.

Shelley announced that the Guns are home in more ways than one and that they were honoured to say that they are All Elite. The traditional “All Elite” graphic was then shown on the big screen to close out the opening segment.

One of the most decorated tag teams in the modern era, Shelley and Sabin have won gold in WWE, TNA, New Japan and Ring of Honor.

Motor City Machine Guns Join AEW

Sabin and Shelley were among the WWE releases that occurred back in April, shortly after WrestleMania. Now free agents, it was widely speculated that The Guns would be joining AEW when their non-competes expired. The former Tag Team Champions are the first of those releases to sign with a major American promotion.

Their most recent match saw them both compete in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal on the final SmackDown before WrestleMania 42. The match was won by Royce Keys.
