AEW has announced a new tournament involving the Continental Championship, which is set to conclude at All In next month.
During the July 30 AEW Collision, Tony Schiavone confirmed that the Continental Cup will begin next week. The tournament will be a 16-wrestler knockout format with the winner receiving a commemorative trophy as well as the Continental Championship. The current champion, Jon Moxley, is one of 16 wrestlers taking part. Fellow announcer Nigel McGuinness said that he had been inspired and also had entered himself into the tournament.
Matches will be drawn at random, meaning that those who make it past the first round will not know their opponent for the quarter-finals until the draw takes place. The tournament and trophy are inspired by the FA Cup, one of the most prestigious prizes in English football. The cup final is played at Wembley Stadium each year.
This will be the first of two Continental Championship tournaments to take place in 2026, as the Continental Classic will return in the winter.
Continental Cup Final Set For AEW All In
Following the latest announcement, five matches are now confirmed for the Wembley Stadium show on August 30. The updated line-up is now as follows:
- Kenny Omega (c) vs. Will Ospreay – Singles match for the AEW World Championship
- Willow Nightingale (c) vs. Mercedes Mone – Singles match for the AEW Women’s Championship
- Cage and Cope (c) vs. The Young Bucks – Singles match for the AEW Tag Team Championships
- Men’s Casino Gauntlet match – The winner will receive a future opportunity at the World Championship
- Continental Cup final – The winner will receive the Continental Championship and commemorative trophy
