The line-up is now set for the first round of the National Wrestling League, which will take place in Newcastle on August 9.
Following a pre-season show in Middlesborough, the League will officially begin next month. The opening fixtures will see Midlands Destroyers take on Northeast Outlaws, London Executioners take on Manchester Manics, and the Glasgow Hitmen take on the Yorkshire Titans.
Seven matches have been confirmed for the show, with singles, tag team and six-man matches all announced for the opening fixture. Riley Nova vs. George Hunter will open the show. Other singles matches announced will see Simon Miller face Joey Hayes, Joseph Connors face Martin Kirby, and Tim Strange take on Brady Phillips. Player/manager D’Lo Brown is also set to be in action as part of a six man tag.
The format of the league is similar to English football. Matches will take place across a 15-minute time limit split into two 7 and a half minute halves. Wrestlers pick up or lose points via pinfall, submission, countout or DQ. Whichever wrestler has the most points at the end of the time limit will pick up 3 points for their team.
The league will follow the round robin format similar to English Football league seasons. Whichever team has the most points at the end will be declared the champions, and the losing team will be relegated.
