AEW star Adam Copeland has looked back on his in-ring career that has lasted more than 3 decades while adding that his time in the ring is also approaching its end.
The Hall of Famer has come a long way since making his debut in 1992. Previously known as Sexton Hardcastle, Damon Striker and most famously Edge, the Rated R Superstar has just about done it all in the professional wrestling world.
With 11 World Championships, 2 Royal Rumble victories and winning King of the Ring among his many accolades, Copeland is one of the most decorated wrestlers in WWE history. After first seeing his in-ring career brought to a premature end in 2011, Edge emotionally announced he had to retire. However, at the 2020 Royal Rumble, the Hall of Famer shocked the world by entering the Men’s Rumble match and kicking off the final chapter of his career, giving him the opportunity to retire on his own terms.
Currently signed with AEW, fans are every aware that it is only a matter of time before the former TNT Champion retires for good. On July 1, which was also Canada Day and the date of his in-ring debut, Cope spoke about his wrestling journey and added that it won’t last much longer in a statement on his Instagram page:
On Canada Day 33 yrs ago I made my wrestling debut. In Oakland Raiders Zubaz and a pair of Converse. Nowhere to go but up. Since then, I’ve travelled the world. Literally. Everywhere you can think of. From Moose Landing to Monterrey, from Bloodvein to Bucharest. It’s been a long, fruitful, soul expanding, soul diminishing, amazing, frustrating, exhausting, exhilarating journey over 3 decades. The best part? I hear every one of you when I blast out of that entranceway and sing Metalingus at the top of your lungs. It’s never been lost on me what a privilege that is. Australia I’m lookin at you! It won’t last a lot longer so I’m gonna soak in every second. Thank you for coming along on this ride with me. #happycanadaday—-
