Why Adam Copeland And Christian Cage Have Not Reunited In AEW

The rumoured Adam Copeland and Christian Cage plan may not take place as early as some may have expected.

After previously feuding over the TNT Championship in late 2023 and early 2024, both men went their separate ways. While Cope suffered a broken leg at Double or Nothing and took the rest of the year off to heal, Cage continued his work as the leader of The Patriarchy faction and won the Casino Gauntlet match at All In 2024 before signs of dissension in the group began to show.

Cope returned from injury at Worlds End at the end of 2024 and targeted World Champion Jon Moxley alongside FTR. Although both men would briefly cross paths when Cage unsuccessfully cashed in his World Title opportunity at Revolution 2025, they remained in separate storylines over the next few months. The Rated R Superstar was last seen at the Dynasty pay-per-view and was attacked by tag team partners FTR when the trio lost to The Deathriders.

Since then, rumours and reports have circulated claiming that Cope and Cage will once again reform their legendary tag team to take on FTR, potentially to face the former Tag Team Champions at All In: Texas. However, with the biggest AEW show of the year set for July 12th, just a few weeks away, there has been no sign of Copeland.

When asked if it was still the plan on a Q and A, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select noted that it was a plan, but was not certain about it taking place at All In. It was added that Cage wanted to make sure that things were in place with The Patriarchy, which has caused some slowdown.

Adam Copeland And Christian Cage Look Set To Reunite At Some Point

One of the most successful tag team in the WWE Attitude Era and one of the 3 teams to put the TLC match on the map, Cope and Christian won the Tag Team Championships 7 times while in the promotion. They last teamed together in a traditional tag team match on the March 28 episode of Raw, defeating Alberto Del Rio and Brodus Clay.

Aware that his in-ring career is coming to an end soon, Adam Copeland previously spoke about retirement.
