More Names Confirmed For NJPW G1 Climax 2025 Tournament

NJPW G1 Climax 35 2025 Tournament Competitors Announced

Two more names have been added to the NJPW Climax 2025 Tournament after emerging victorious in their respective qualifying matches.

On day 5 of the New Japan Soul event on June 23rd, Callum Newman defeated Taichi and Drilla Maloney defeated Tomohiro Ishii to each book their spots in the 35th iteration of the New Japan tournament. Newman will be a part of the A block and Maloney will compete in the B block.

As a result of the qualifying matches, 18 of the 20 entrants have now been confirmed for the upcoming tournament. The final qualifying matches will take place on July 4th, which will see Ryohei Oiwa vs. Bad Luck Fale and YOSHI-HASHI vs. Chase Owens as the final play-in matches.

NJPW first announced 16 competitors for the G1 Climax Tournament at Dominion, adding that the final 4 spots would be determined in the coming weeks.

  • David Finlay

The G1 Climax will commence on July 19 and will conclude on August 17. Whoever emerges as the winner will receive an opportunity at the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 20 on January 4, 2026. The current champion is Hirooki Goto.
