AEW Star Buddy Matthews Provides Concerning Injury Update

AEW star Buddy Matthews has given the fans an update on his road to recovery, and unfortunately, it is not a good one.

Taking to Instagram live, Matthews admitted that the recovery was not going the way that he intended and that he has no mobility. Matthews also added that he intended to be back much earlier:

“The ankle is not recovering as well as I thought it would be. There’s no mobility to it, if I can’t have mobility, I can’t move properly. Once it hits three months without healing, it becomes chronic,” Matthews said. “I thought I’d be back in the ring in April.“

The injury occurred moments before Matthews was set to challenge Kazuchika Okada for the Continental Championship at Grand Slam Australia. The former Trios Champion rolled his ankle while making his entrance, landing badly while getting in the ring. Despite the injury, Matthews was still able to compete in the match and lost to The Rainmaker in front of his native fans.

At this time, it is unknown when Matthews will make his return to the ring.

Buddy Matthews Working With AEW Faction Prior To Injury

Prior to being side-lined with the injury, Matthews was tagging with Brody King. Following the departure of Malakai Black, who returned to WWE as Aleister Black shortly after WrestleMania 41, Matthews and King rebranded as Hounds of Hell. The duo lost to Konosuke Takeshita and Kyle Flecther in their last match as a tag team. King has been regularly featured on TV while Matthews has been out with injury as part of the ongoing feud with The Don Callis Family.

Features of Wrestling would like to wish Buddy Matthews a full and speedy recovery.
