Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes appeared live, the WrestleMania build continued and more on the April 3 WWE SmackDown.
Randy Orton continued his rampage on last week’s show, proving that he is willing to do whatever it takes to win that 15th World Championship at WrestleMania, which would also surpass the number of reigns that his former mentor, Triple H has.
Additionally, Rhea Ripley appeared live after being attacked by Jade Cargill, B-Fab and Michin over the past few weeks, and WWE teased that more carnage between Drew McIntyre and Jacob Fatu was set to continue.
WWE SmackDown Results April 3:
- Following a recap of the Cody Rhodes and Stephanie McMahon segment on Raw, Randy Orton officially opened the show. Orton spoke about his family being in the front row, as SmackDown aired in his hometown of St. Louis, leading to Rhodes interrupting him. Pat McAfee then made his return and hit a low blow on Rhodes, revealing that he was the one whom Orton had been on the phone with over the past few weeks.
- Rhea Ripley defeated Michin.
- Uncle Howdy defeated Tama Tonga. The Wyatts claimed back the lantern after the match.
- Trick WIlliams appeared live and spoke about WrestleMania before being interrupted by his opponent, Sami Zayn. Carmelo Hayes interrupted and talked himself into a rematch with Zayn with the US Title on the line.
- Aleister Black defeated Matt Cardona.
- Video packages aired of Drew McIntyre and Jacob Fatu to hype their Mania match.
- Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss defeated Bayley and Lyra Valkyria.
- R-Truth and Damian Priest defeated The Miz and Kit Wilson to retain the Tag Team Championships. Danhausen interfered and accidentally cursed the referee, which factored into the finish.
- Sami Zayn defeatedCarmelo Hayes to retain the US Championship. Trick Williams and Lil Yachty attacked Zayn after the bell.
