A major qualifying match and more are set for the July 23 edition of WWE SmackDown.
On July 17, it was announced that an interim Women’s Champion would be determined at SummerSlam in a ladder match. Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill have qualified, with Charlotte Flair costing Jax her opportunity by attacking Cargill. Familiar foes Jax and Flair are set to face off once more, with the winner advancing to SummerSlam.
At Saturday Night’s Main Event in Madison Square Garden, Fatal Influence defeated Paige and Brie Bella to win the Women’s Tag Titles. While not announced, the new champions are likely set to appear on SmackDown. Also on the special, Nick Aldis attacked Gunther, costing The Ring General a future opportunity at the WWE Championship. Following the show, both men got into a physical altercation, leading to Gunther vs. Aldis being announced for SummerSlam. The altercation and the match are expected to be referenced on the show.
This will also be the penultimate episode of SmackDown before SummerSlam, which is scheduled to take place in early August.
