WWE returns to Madison Square Garden for the July 18 Saturday Night’s Main Event special, which will have major SummerSlam implications.
On the go-home SmackDown, a stipulation was added to the main event of Cody Rhodes and CM Punk vs. Sami Zayn and Gunther. If Gunther and Zayn are victorious, they will be added to the WWE Championship match at SummerSlam. However, if Punk and Rhodes win, the match will remain one on one.
One title match has been announced for the show. Brie Bella and Paige are set to put their titles on the line against Fatal Influence’s Lainey Reid & Fallon Henley. Fatal Influence have targeted the champions ever since their arrival following WrestleMania.
Following the New York Knicks winning the NBA Championship, Jalen Brunson will appear live on the show. The Knicks MVP is set to share the ring with World Champion Roman Reigns, who will also appear live in New York as part of Fanatics Fest.
The Knicks’ good luck charm, Danhausen, is also set to compete on the show. After his lab was destroyed by The Judgment Day, Danhausen will face JD McDonagh in a no DQ match. Danhausen is also set to be part of an “Uncursing Parade” prior to the show.
The show is scheduled to air live at 8 pm Eastern Time, which will be 1 am in the UK. WWE has also stated that the show will air internationally on Netflix, but Saturday Night’s Main Event is currently listed on the company’s YouTube channel.
WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event July 18 Line-Up:
- Paige & Brie Bella (c) vs. Fatal Influence – Tag team match for the Women’s Tag Team Championships
- Danhausen vs. JD McDonagh – No disqualification match
- Roman Reigns and New York Knicks’ Jalen Brunson will appear
- CM Punk and Cody Rhodes vs. Sami Zayn and Gunther – If Zayn and Gunther win the match, they will be added to the WWE Championship match at SummerSlam
- Bayley vs. Lyra Valkyria
