A qualifying match and more is set for the July 24 edition of WWE SmackDown as SummerSlam fast approaches.
On the July 17 SmackDown, it was announced that due to Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley still dealing with an injury, an interim champion would be crowned at SummerSlam. To determine the new champion, a ladder match will take place at the next Premium Live Event, with qualifying matches taking place on SmackDown. Jade Cargill defeated Nia Jax on the show via DQ after being attacked by Charlotte Flair. With Jax annoyed at Flair for costing her opportunity, both women will face each other on next week’s show. Another qualifying match is also likely to be announced in the coming days.
This will also be the first SmackDown following the next Saturday Night’s Main Event special. Set to air live from Madison Square Garden, the show will see CM Punk and Cody Rhodes team up to take on Sami Zayn and Gunther. If Gunther and Zayn win, they will be added to the WWE title match at SummerSlam.
