WWE President Nick Khan Comments On Reduction In House Shows

WWE President Nick Khan has addressed the company drastically scaling back house shows in the current era.

Domestic WWE house shows are now rarer than ever before, with only a few sporadic shows and the annual holiday tour taking place in the United States. While international tours are still present and the stars of NXT still regularly compete at non-telvised events in Florida, Raw and SmackDown wrestlers have a lot more free time.

The reduction of live events has divided opinion among some fans. While some are happy to see the wrestlers looked after better and they have to take less bumps, others have missed the house shows as it gives them the opportunity to see the stars of WWE at a reduced price.

Appearing on The Bill Simmons Podcast, Khan spoke about the stars from the past who were beaten down from spending most of the year on the road, adding that he didn’t want to see that moving forward:

“Think about every wrestling documentary you’ve ever seen. Usually, wrestlers in the 80s started off with, ‘I was on the road 300 days a year.’ It’s no way, and then you saw the results of that. Forget family life, but you saw what people would do to make sure that their bodies could perform at that level.”

One reason why fans regularly go to house shows is that they are substantially cheaper than TV or Premium Live Event tickets, which have notably bumped up in price over the past few years. In a previous interview, Nick Khan gave his thoughts on the ticket prices.
