Malakai Black Wins PROGRESS World Championship In Manchester

Malakai Black has dethroned Cara Noir to become the new PROGRESS World Champion as part of the Odyssey tour.

On September 6, PROGRESS held its latest event in Manchester, England. The main event saw Black pick up the win over Noir in what was his third appearance for PROGRESS in 2026.

Black celebrated with his wife Xelina after the match, holding the title at the top of the stage to bring the show to a close. The Manchester date was also streamed live on the Hooked on Wrestling TV service.

The match was set up the previous night in Leeds when Black confronted Noir following his victory over Dijak. Noir also successfully defended the title over Spike Trivet at the Wrestling Over Everything event in late August. After the match, an incensed Charles Crowley stormed the ring looking for revenge on Noir.

Malakai Black Wins First Post-WWE Championship In PROGRESS

The victory marks Black’s first title reign since he and the former Zelina Vega were released by WWE back in April. Shortly after Black’s 90-day no-compete expired, the former NXT Champion put out a video sporting a new bald look to signify the start of his next chapter. Black was then announced for the Odyssey tour later in the year. Prior to the Manchester match, Black faced Dijak in Edinburgh and teamed with Daz Black in Leeds.

Black has previously won the PROGRESS Tag Team Championships and the Strong Style 16 tournament, but this is his first reign with the promotion’s top title.
