Update: On September 6, TMZ confirmed that Andy Williams has passed away.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the news to TMZ following Williams’ suffering a medical emergency in his tag team match with The Blade.

Andy Williams, best known to pro wrestling fans as The Butcher in AEW, collapsed after his match on September 5.
Williams collapsed at the Enjoy Wrestling Five-Year Anniversary event on Saturday. The promotion issued a statement later that night on social media, stating that Williams received treatment by the on-site medical team, who administered CPR until the ambulance arrived:
“Andy collapsed at the end of his match this evening.
Our doctors on staff tended to him immediately, administering CPR until the ambulance arrived.
We sent everyone home and are at the hospital now waiting for more information.
Thanks to everyone who helped and has reached out”
The rest of the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, show was cancelled after Williams was taken to the hospital.

Williams was teaming with his long-time tag partner The Blade at the Enjoy Wrestling show. Fans in attendance noted that the match was stopped when Williams’ legs buckled and he went to the floor. The Blade signalled for help and ice was poured onto him before medical attention began.
The Butcher and The Blade joined AEW in 2019, and remained with the promotion until their contracts expired in March 2026. They have been teaming on the independents since. Outside of wrestling, Williams was previously the rhythm guitarist for the metal band Every Time I Die.
