The Rock was nearly a guest on the popular YouTube show Hot Ones, but was apparently not a fan of the signature aspect of the show.
The talk show and food challenge hybrid sees guests and host Sean Evans look at the biggest moments from the star’s lives while also eating spicy chicken wings that get hotter and hotter as the show goes on. While A list actors and musicians such as Ryan Reynolds, Margot Robbie and Dave Grohl have all been on the show, stars from the wrestling world including The Undertaker, Steve Austin, Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch have all ran the spicy gauntlet.
Although Evans has been able to get just about every high-profile name in existence to appear, one name has always alluded him, The Great One himself. With the WWE icon known for his tough persona in movies, a food fan and with many stories to tell, an appearance on Hot Ones would be no doubt entertaining and could be the most-viewed episode of all time. Sadly, it has not materialised yet but it is not for a lack of trying.
While being interviewed by Bloomberg, Shawn Evans recalled trying to get Rock to appear on the show, adding that the wrestler wanted to eat spicy salmon instead of chicken wings:
“We’ve been pitching [The Rock] obviously for years and one time I got a note back that was like, ‘would you be willing to do, instead of wings, grilled salmon strips?’ And in my head I was like, that had to come from his mouth … that’s as close as we’ve gotten. And then it fell through,”
The Rock Suffered An Injury Earlier In The Year
Following on from his return match at WrestleMania 40 and appearance on the Raw after Mania, the Hollywood star returned to the movie world to tart his latest project that will focus on former pro wrestler and MMA fighter Mark Kerr. Titled The Smashing Machine, Dwayne Johnson will play the lead role in the film. However, the shoot was not as straightforward as The Rock showed off an injury sustained during filming.
