Joe Hendry remains determined to be one of the top guys in WWE despite some questionable booking since his main roster call-up.
Following a successful run in NXT, which saw Hendry capture the brand’s top championship, the Scottish star was officially called up to the main roster shortly after WrestleMania. While Hendry has been featured on the show most weeks and has released an album with the company, not every segment has been a hit.
As well as the infamous musical collaboration with Danhausen, Hendry’s latest storyline has not been well received by fans. Feuding with JD McDonagh and the rest of The Judgment Day, Hendry has compared McDonagh’s head to a Funko Pop and has been accompanied by a life-size version of the toy. However, according to the former NXT and TNA World Champion, he still knows that he can make it to the top.

Speaking with Scott Fishman of TV Insider, Hendry was asked about his goals moving forward. The Raw star responded that he is always looking to improve, adding that he has facts to back up his top guy claim:
“I’m just always looking to get better at what I do. I know in my heart that I can be a top draw for WWE. I know people have things to say about that, but the truth is I know that I can be a top guy, I know that I can be an asset to the professional wrestling business because I have the metrics to prove it. And those are facts, you know? I had the most-viewed clip in all of wrestling in 2024. I wrestled Randy Orton at WrestleMania, which did insane numbers on social media. My WrestleMania shirt was a bestseller. I won the NXT Championship. I have the metrics to prove that I can draw in the professional wrestling business, and my goal is to be somebody who can deliver for the company.”
Hendry also referenced an interview that WWE President Nick Khan gave, which saw Khan detail what he is looking for in the next WWE star:
“I saw in an interview that [WWE President] Nick Khan was asked what WWE is looking for from talent. It is someone that can move the needle for the company immediately or in the near future. I believe that I’m somebody who can do that. I’ve had metrics in the past to prove that I think I can be a top guy for WWE. So I’m looking to acquire the skills to do that as quickly as I can.”
Hendry is one of many stars in the upcoming ReelShorts and WWE collaboration Agent of Shadows. When asked about the role, Hendry responded that he gets to play the best character in the film: himself:
“Well, I have the best character. I had to really challenge myself to embrace this role. I, Joe Hendry, play Joe Hendry, the greatest character in all of media. So, yeah, I had fun with it.”
