WWE Backlash 2026 Predictions

WWE Backlash 2026 Predictions

Two title matches, a mystery partner and more are set for WWE Backlash 2026, the first major show since WrestleMania 42.

With Roman Reigns now on top again as he is the World Heavyweight Champion, The OTC will be in action on the show. In what will be Reigns’ first title defence, the champion will face off against Jacob Fatu, who has looked unstoppable in the lead-up to the match.

Additionally, Danhausen is looking for revenge on The Miz and Kit Wilson, but only if he can find a partner to team with him. Other matches announced will see Trick Williams defend the US Title against Sami Zayn, Asuka face IYO SKY, and Seth Rollins take on Bron Breakker.

WWE Backlash 2026 Predictions:

Seth Rollins vs. Bron Breakker

Realistically, there is only one way that this match should go. Breakker has just returned from injury, is clearly a star on the rise and is overdue for another World Title opportunity. Rollins is the veteran who can overcome the loss better and needs to put over the younger star. The story is that Breakker needs to prove himself worthy of being in the main event, and a win over his former mentor is the right step in this progression.

Winner: Bron Breakker

Asuka vs. IYO SKY

While this will likely be the match of the night from an in-ring standpoint, the story of the match has been removed. Leading up to WrestleMania, Kairi Sane was being bossed around by Asuka. This match was set to be Sane being forced to pick a side, but the former Women’s Tag Team Champion was among the post-WrestleMania releases. Fans would have been much more invested if Sane was ringside for the match, but this now feels like just another match on the card. If this is a one and done, SKY should be the winner, but if WWE are planning on stretching this out, which may be difficult given the circumstances, an Asuka win would be most logical.

Winner: Asuka

Trick Williams vs. Sami Zayn For The US Championship

While WrestleMania 42 was not without fault, showcasing the next generation was one thing WWE got right with the event. Williams is extremely popular right now and making him the US Champion was the right call. Williams will very likely win the rematch and cement the double turn of Williams turning face and Zayn turning heel. Here’s hoping that the Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams rivalry from NXT will be revisited soon.

Winner: Trick Williams

Danhausen And A Mystery Partner vs. The Miz and Kit Wilson

Don’t expect this match to be long, but expect it to be very entertaining! It’s almost a certainty that team Danhausen will win, but the bigger mystery is who will Danhausen find as his partner. Some online have guessed CM Punk given their previous friendship, but this doesn’t feel like the appropriate match for someone who was in the main event of WrestleMania just a few weeks ago. Jelly Roll and “The Demon” Finn Balor have also been thrown out there online, but also look to be unlikely. Given this is a comedy match, Joe Hendry feels like a viable option, especially as he has had a history with The Miz in the past.

Winners: Danhausen and mystery partner

Roman Reigns vs. Jacob Fatu For The World Heavyweight Championship

WWE are presenting Fatu like an unstoppable force right now as neither The Usos nor The MFTs have been able to get the upper hand on The Samoan Werewolf. However, when it comes to the Backlash match, it will likely be a loss for Fatu. Reigns has just won the championship and will have another long reign with the title. The finish could see the match end in a DQ or with some interference to set up a stipulation rematch, but Fatu won’t be walking out of Tampa as the champion.

Winner: Roman Reigns

WWE Backlash will air live on ESPN in the United States and on Netflix internationally.
