Which Match Will Headline Night One Of WWE SummerSlam?

A new report has detailed which match is set to be the main event of WWE SummerSlam Night 1.

For the first time in the event’s 38-year history, the show will expand to 2 nights and join WrestleMania as a weekend-long event for wrestling fans. As the event has now doubled in size, this also means that there are 2 main events set to take place on the show. While it is a near guarantee that John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes will close out the weekend, the same match that also rounded out WrestleMania 41, there has been no word on what will be the last match on SummerSlam Saturday.

According to The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer [via Wrestling News.co], the current plan is to have the World Heavyweight Championship match between champion Gunther and challenger CM Punk go on last on August 2. The two began the build to their match on the July 21 Raw with a face-to-face to kick off the show.
