Multiple WWE NXT wrestlers were released from their contracts throughout the night on Friday, September 4.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful broke the news of the departures throughout the evening, with Mike Johnson of PWInsider first reporting that cuts were coming. Jasper Troy was the first name to indicate his departure by posting “30 days” on social media. The 30 days is in reference to the 30-day non-compete clause put in place for NXT talent. Fightful also reports that no main roster cuts were expected as part of this round of releases.
Two of the most high-profile names on the list are Wendy Choo and Adrianna Rizzo. Choo first appeared on NXT back in 2019, where she had the gimmick of always being tired and wore pyjamas to the ring. Following a heel turn, Choo was repackaged and went to Evolve, where she won the Women’s Championship in April. Choo dropped the title to Nikkita Lyons in June.
Rizzo is best known for her run as a member of Tony D’Angelo’s family. Rizzo was off TV with a knee injury around the same time as Tony D’Angelo wrapped up his feud with Channing “Stack” Lorenzo.
