Sheamus Says NSFW WWE Nickname Got Shut Down Fast

Sheamus has looked back on a WWE nickname that raised eyebrows for all the wrong reasons.

In 2023, The Celtic Warrior frequently teamed with Drew McIntyre. As Sheamus is known for consistently putting on high-quality matches, which he describes as “banger after banger”, the duo became known on TV as The Banger Bros.

Fans quickly took notice of the team name as it was very similar to an adult film company, which the two former World Champions also leaned into on social media. However, a few weeks after the name was first uttered on TV, WWE quickly dropped it upon realisation to the similarity.

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee ShowSheamus brought up The Bannger Brothers and noted that it got shut down very quickly by the powers that be:

“Remember the Banger Brothers? The thing back in the day me and Drew McIntyre. The Banger Brothers. That got shut down real fast, by the way,”

Sheamus last competed on the May 19th Raw, picking up a victory over Grayson Waller.

Sheamus Sees His Prediction Come True

The former WWE Champion appeared on Pat McAfee’s show the day after news broke that R-Truth was leaving the company. Having seen many come and go from WWE over the years, Sheamus predicted that Truth would one day make his return to the company. Less than a week later, R-Truth returned to WWE at Money in the Bank, attacking John Cena to the surprise of fans around the world.

H/t to Fightful.
