Drew McIntyre Bio

A 3-time World Champion and one of the most successful British wrestlers in WWE history, Drew McIntyre proved that there is always a second chance.

  • Date of birth: 6 June 1985
  • Date of WWE debut: 12 October 2007 on SmackDown
  • Finishing move: Claymore
  • Signature moves: Futureshock DDT

Born in Ayr, Scotland, Drew Galloway first competed in British promotions such as British Championship Wrestling, ICW and Irish promotion Irish Whip Wrestling before signing with WWE in 2007. After a couple of matches on the main roster, McInytre went to developmental promotion OVW before making his return in 2009. Shortly afterwards, McIntyre was given a huge endorsement as he was declared to be “The Chosen One” by former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.

Quickly finding championship success, McInytre defeated John Morrison to capture the Intercontinental Championship, his first title in WWE. After losing the title to Kofi Kingston, McIntyre later won the Tag Team Championships with Cody Rhodes. Following the title loss, McIntyre resumed his previous animosity with SmackDown General Manager Teddy Long and went on to go on a losing streak, which ended when he defeated Hornswoggle.

In 2012, McIntyre and Mahal interfered in Heath Slater’s match with Brodus Clay, which led to the formation of the 3MB faction. Mainly portraying a comedic role, McIntyre was released from his contract in 2014 shortly after WrestleMania 30.

Looking to prove that WWE made the wrong decision by letting him go, McIntyre returned to the independents with appearances in ICW, Evolve wXw, WCPW and others before signing with TNA in 2015. Capturing the World Championship, McIntyre lost the title to Bobby Lashley and departed the promotion in 2017.

Finding his way back to WWE, McIntyre was spotted in the crowd at NXT TakeOver: Orlando. Defeating Bobby Roode to win the NXT Championship, McIntyre lost the title to Andrade before returning to the main roster as an ally for Dolph Ziggler.

After the alliance with Ziggler ended, McIntyre found himself associated with the likes of Braun Strowman, Baron Corbin and Shane McMahon, which also led to McIntyre and McMahon teaming up to take on The Undertaker and Roman Reigns. Following more matches in the midcard, McIntyre made his way to the main event scene by winning the 2020 Royal Rumble. Set to face WWE Champion Brock Lesnar in Tampa, the match was moved to the Performance Center in Orlando due to the COVID pandemic. While there were no fans present, McIntyre still competed in the main event of WrestleMania and won his first World Championship.

One of the faces of the company during the pandemic era, McIntyre lost the championship to Randy Orton at Hell in a Cell before regaining the title a few weeks later. Another victim of the Money in the Bank cash-in, McIntyre’s second reign came to an end thanks to The Miz cashing in the briefcase. Earning a shot against the next champion Bobby Lashley, McIntyre and Lashley opened WrestleMania 37, which had limited fans in attendance.

Unable to win back the WWE Championship, McIntyre regularly challenged for the title, including against Roman Reigns at Clash at the Castle Cardiff, while also feuding with the likes of Baron Corbin, Karrion Kross and Sheamus. Looking to win the Intercontinental Championship again, McIntyre and Sheamus both failed to defeat Gunther at WrestleMania 39.

One year later, Drew McIntyre finally won a World Title in front of fans as he defeated Seth Rollins to win the World Heavyweight Championship. Unfortunately, the reign only lasted around 5 minutes as he was attacked by CM Punk after the match and once again fell victim to a Money in the Bank cash-in, this time from Damian Priest.

Spending the majority of 2024 looking to get revenge on Punk, McIntyre crossed paths with the Chicago native multiple times, including when Punk thwarted McIntyre’s Money in the Bank cash-in attempt. Engaging in the feud of the year, McIntyre and Punk culminated their rivalry inside Hell in a Cell at Bad Blood.

In 2025, McIntyre feuded with Damian Priest, which ended when Priest defeated him inside a steel cage.
