A WWE Championship match and more is set for the August 21 SmackDown, which will air live from Toronto, Canada.
After 17 months away, Kevin Owens made his return to the ring at SummerSlam. Victorious in a 4-way match, KO became the new number one contender to the WWE Championship, which is currently held by CM Punk. Wanting the hometown advanatge, Owens told Nick Aldis that he wanted his title match to take place in Canada, which Aldis agreed to. Both men exchanged insults on the August 14 show, reminding the fans of their years of animosity.
While not announced, it is also likely that Canada’s own WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green will appear live. Green was nearly stripped of her title due to injury on last week’s show, but Nick Aldis had a change of heart. Instead, Green has been given 30 days to defend her championship, or she will be forced to relinquish it.
