Ric Flair Comments On Chris Jericho WWE Return Rumours And Potential Retirement Tour

Ric Flair has been asked about the rumours that Chris Jericho could be on his way back to WWE, and the possibility that the company may use the John Cena template to give the former World Champion an extensive retirement tour.

Jericho has now been away from TV for the best part of 5 months after going on hiatus just after AEW Dynasty. With the inaugural AEW World Champion’s contract set to expire at the end of the year, rumours have circulated that Jericho could be eyeing up one final run in WWE before calling time on his legendary career that has lasted more than 3 decades, with appearances in WCW and NJPW on top of his successes in WWE and AEW.

If Jericho does make a WWE return soon, fans are expecting something big from the veteran if this is indeed his final run as an active performer. However, according to Flair, it is unlikely that Jericho will get the Cena treatment.

“I’m Sure He’ll Go Into The Hall Of Fame”: Ric Flair On Chris Jericho WWE Return Rumours

While speaking with Escapist MagazineFlair was asked about a number of topics, including the Jericho rumours. Flair agreed that Jericho did deserve one final run in WWE and is definitely worthy of going into the Hall of Fame, but doubts that the company would put on a year long retirement tour in the same way that they have for John Cena:

“Well, of course I do because Chris has meant a lot to the business,” Flair responded when asked if he thinks Jericho deserves a final WWE run. “But I don’t think he’ll get it. I’m sure he’ll go to the Hall of Fame. I mean, he’s been a Hall of Fame athlete, human being, wrestler, everything. But I would doubt very seriously if he’d get the kind of deal that John Cena got. I could be wrong. I would enjoy it. But John had a level of popularity very similar to The Rock’s. He was huge. Everyone loved him. It might be a bit of a stretch to see him back in there, but you never know.”

Flair competed in his final WWE match at WrestleMania 24, losing to Shawn Michaels in a match that had his career on the line. Following another run in TNA, Flair’s last match took place in 2022, where he and Andrade defeated Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal.
