The Latest On Chris Jericho Possibly Returning To WWE

More information has been provided on Chris Jericho potentially returning to WWE as speculation has ramped up over the past few days.

The inaugural AEW World Champion has been absent from TV since the first episode of Dynamite after Dynasty, which sawJericho blast Learning Tree members Big Bill and Bryan Keith as they were unable to capture the Tag Team Championships at the pay-per-view. With no signs of a return and fans believing that Jeicho may be looking for one final run in WWE, there are rumours that the veteran may be waiting out his contract, which is set to expire later in the year.

Jericho only fueled the rumours further over the past few days when he liked a post on social media that claimed he would be leaving AEW for WWE soon. According to those within the company, the former World Champion could make his return in a big way.

Speaking about Jericho on Wrestling Observer Radio on August 19, Dave Meltzer stated that there is “a lot of talk” on a Jericho return, with the 2026 Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia being a potential date:

“Jericho is actually a really big story. His contract is up at the end of the year, or late in the year, and there’s certainly been lots and lots of talk about WWE. I know from a WWE standpoint that there is lots of talk there about Jericho. People speculating Royal Rumble. Nobody has officially said anything, nor will anyone officially say anything,” Meltzer said.

When Did Chris Jericho Last Compete In WWE?

If Jericho does make his return in Saudi Arabia, it will conveniently be in the same country as his last match in WWE. Back in 2018, Jericho was one of the many entrants in the 50-man Greatest Royal Rumble at the event of the same name. The match was won by Braun Strowman.
