Chelsea Green has revealed she would love to have a hair vs. hair match in WWE and would even be willing to lose the match and have her head shaved.
The Interim WWE Women’s Champion has never been afraid to embarrass herself on camera in the name of entertainment. Green has previously been covered in cake and thrown into a dumpster, making her one of SmackDown’s most entertaining acts.
Green has previously stated that she wanted to compete in a hair vs. hair match, in which the loser would have their head shaved. Speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Green confirmed that she was serious about the idea and revealed that she had actually pitched a hair vs. hair match against Nikki Bella for both WrestleMania 41 and WrestleMania 42:
“I’m so serious that I pitched it for both WrestleManias in Vegas versus Nikki Bella. I’ll lose. I’ll shave my head.”
When Van Vliet suggested that Green would look good bald, the SmackDown star wasn’t quite as convinced. However, she revealed that her husband, fellow WWE star Matt Cardona, was fully supportive of the idea.
“I have a huge forehead. I would look like a peanut, but my husband loves me, and he also was like, ‘Yeah, do it, whatever. That’d be so cool.’ He’s such a student of the game. He would love it. He would love knowing that I did something that would be history-making, right?
Chelsea Green Not Losing Hair While Women’s Champion
When it was brought up that the match could be possible now that Green is the Interim Women’s Champion, the Canadian star had her doubts, but was still open to the idea. Green then elaborated on her original motivation for the match, which was to elevate the Women’s US Championship:
“Now I’m the WWE Women’s Champion, I’m not shaving my head. No, I’m kidding. I think I would, but I so badly wanted to make the U.S. title something special. I don’t know that I was able to do that in my two reigns, but I think had I been able to have that feud with Nikki and shave my head, I think it would have cemented the U.S. title as something that wasn’t underneath this title, and that’s what I was trying to do. I really wanted to people to enter the Rumble, and when they win, possibly challenge the U.S. title holder, not just the big daddy of it all. Why can’t the IC and the U.S. title be a part of that conversation? So I was just really trying to push for that. I was trying to push to elevate that title. I was trying to push to have people care about it, to not have it be second best and all that. I wasn’t able to do it, and now it’s like this doesn’t need that. This already has so much on the line. Every person that goes for that title, they’re already trying to be the best.”
The last women’s hair vs. hair match took place at WrestleMania 20 in 2004. Victoria defeated Molly Holly in the match, meaning that Molly was shaved bald after the bell. There was originally no plans for a Women’s Title match to make it onto the WrestleMania 20 card, but the stipulation, which was pitched by both women, made WWE change its mind.
