Oba Femi has admitted that his moment with Brock Lesnar was not one they had discussed ahead of time.
The Ruler and The Beast settled their rivalry at SummerSlam 2026. With each man having a win over the other, the rubber match took place inside Hell a Cell, a match that Lesnar had never lost up to that point. However, following a Fall From Grace onto the exposed boards, Femi pinned Lesnar for the second time.
After the match, Lesnar got on the mic and put over his rival. Lesnar declared that he was the past and that Femi was the future of WWE. Lesnar showed respect to Femi before making his way to the back.
While speaking with ABC 33/40, Femi looked back on his SummerSlam match. The Ruler admitted that nobody knew that Lesnar’s endorsement was coming, including him:
“I remember him, I see him on his wide back walking away. I’m like, ‘Wow, that was tough.’ Then I see him spin the block. I’m like, ‘Oh man, what’s going on? What do we have now?’ And then he walks back and I’m on guard. I’m like, ‘Oh, it could be anything’ and then he comes in and it’s this big endorsement very out of character for him and it’s a huge moment. So, I’m happy that he trusted enough in his choice to even come back and not just implicitly tell them through the match, but explicitly say ‘’This is our guy.’’
“Nobody saw it coming. The camera guys, everybody was taken back. Everybody was surprised that in the 25 year career of Brock Lesnar, he’s never done anything like that.”
Oba Femi Retires Brock Lesnar
Ahead of SummerSlam, rumours circulated that it would be the location of Lesnar’s last match, especially as it took place in his home state of Minnesota. A few days after SummerSlam, Lesnar appeared on The Pat McAfee Show and said that he had retired.
Lesnar previosuly seemingly retired following his loss to Femi at WrestleMania 42. However, the 10-time World Champion made his return later that year to set up a match at Clash in Italy.
