The final build to Sunday Night’s Main Event and more is set for the September 4 edition of WWE SmackDown.
With WWE set to go on the road next week, this will be the last episode of the blue brand to take place in the States until September 18. On September 11, the show will air live from Mexico City, Mexico, and will feature CM Punk defending his WWE Championship in the main event.
Blake Monroe is set to make her in-ring debut on the show. After attacking Giulia the past week and preventing the match from happening, the match is set to take place again on September 4. Additionally, Shinsuke Nakamura and his new ally Kyoki, formerly Hiromu Takahashi from New Japan, will compete in their first match as a tag team. Nakamura and Kyoki will face The Miz and Kit Wilson.
The show will heavily focus on Sunday Night’s Main Event, which will take place on September 6. As such, Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton are set to appear live. The announced card for the special is as follows
- Bron Breakker vs. Oba Femi
- Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton
- Baron Corbin vs. Lil Yachty – If Yachty can last 5 minutes, Trick Williams will receive a future opportunity against Baron Corbin for the US Title
- Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley vs. Jade Cargill, Michin and B-Fab
It should be noted that the show was taped ahead of time to give the staff and roster time off before the South America tour. Spoilers for the show have become available online.
