Nick Hogan Suing Bubba The Love Sponge Over Hulk Hogan Documentary

Nick Hogan is pursuing legal action over Bubba The Love Sponge in relation to a documentary set to be released about his late father, Hulk Hogan.

As reported by TMZ on September 2, a lawsuit has been filed where Hogan is suing the radio host as the documentary “Video Killed The Radio Star: The Untold Story Of The Hulk Hogan Sex Tape Scandal” infringes on trademark and copyright owned by the Hogan estate.

Nick claims that the video, which will tell the story of how Hogan’s sex tape with Bubba’s then-wife Heather Clem was leaked to the media, contains unauthorised images of the late Hall of Famer, who passed away in July 2025. Nick also claims that Bubba, real name Todd Alan Clem, has been using Hogan’s trademarks without permission and violates a previous agreement that was put in place back in 2012 between Hulk and Bubba.

The infamous Hogan sex tape was first leaked back in 2012, which was leaked by the since-bankrupt outlet Gawker. Hogan launched legal action on the website, and was ultimately awarded $31 million in damages. The initial agreement was $140 million, but the lower fee was agreed. Follow-up footage released in 2015 saw Hogan controversially use multiple racial slurs, resulting in his removal from the WWE Hall of Fame for 3 years.

With Hogan never publicly apologising over what happened, the once beloved former World Champion received much more negative reactions from the fans in subsequent appearances, and was used much more sparingly. Hogan’s final appearance in a wrestling capacity took place at the Raw on Netflix premiere at the start of the year, which saw the Hall of Famer heavily booed by the fans in attendance. Hogan was rumoured to make follow-up appearances, but these never came to be.
