The rumours were indeed true as Paige made her return to WWE at WrestleMania 42.
On night one of the biggest pro wrestling show of the year, the former Divas Champion was named as a last-minute replacement for Nikki Bella, who was unable to compete in the 4-way match for the Women’s Tag Team Championships. Teaming with Brie Bella, Paige started her WWE return strong by capturing the titles with the Hall of Famer, defeating Charltte Flair and Alexa Bliss, Lash Legend and Nia Jax, and Bayley and Lyra Valkkyria.
Prior to the match taking place, The Bellas made their entrance, but Nikki was holding a crutch. Nikki then announced that she called in an old friend so that Brie could still have her Mania moment. Paige’s music then hit to a massive ovation from the Mania crowd, as the British star competed in her firt WWE match in 8 years.
The closing moments of the match saw Paige take advantage of a distraction from Nikki Bella to pin Alexa Bliss with the Rampage.
Paige Is Back In WWE – What’s Next For Norwich Wrestler?
While Paige has had injury concerns in the past, the British star was cleared to compete in AEW and avoided injury during her time in the company. With the WWE schedule now being more relaxed, Paige can be used more sparingly and is given the opportunity to continue or even end her in-ring career on her own terms.
It’s unlikely that Paige will be a top contender for either championship, but anything can happen in pro wrestling.
