Becky Lynch won back the Women’s Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 42, and as an added bonus, finally picked up the win over her long-time rival, AJ Lee.
Competing on night 1 of the biggest show of the year, Lynch defeated AJ Lee by taking advantage of an exposed turnbuckle, driving Lee into the corner and delivering a Manhandle Slam to win the match and the title.
To make things even sweeter for Lynch, referee Jessika Carr was the one who counted the winning pin and raised Lynch’s hand after the bell. Lynch has had issues with Carr in recent months, claiming that the official is conspiring against her. Lynch shoved Carr in the match, but Carr shoved Lynch back. Lynch also got a special entrance as The Wonder Years performed her theme live to play her to the ring.
Lee has had Lynch’s number ever since she returned to WWE in the summer of 2025. Along with Lee and her husband CM Punk defeating Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins at Wrestlepalooza, Lee also made Lynch tap out at Survivor Series, and defeated The Man at Elimination Chamber to win the Women’s Intercontinental Championship.
Lynch is now a 3-time holder of the Women’s IC Title, more than anyone else in the brief history of the gold.
Becky Lynch Was Second New Champin Crowned At WrestleMania 42
Lynch was not the first wrestler t capture a championship at WrestleMania 42. The match before saw a returning Paige team with Brie Bella to win the Women’s Tag Team Championships in her first WWE match in 8 years.
