New Matches Announced For AEW WrestleDream

The first match has been announced for the AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view.

AEW WrestleDream begins to take shape with the first match officially announced.

The second iteration of the event will air live on pay-per-view on October 12th from Tacoma, Washington. The show was established in 2023 as a tribute to Antonio Inoki, who passed away in 2022.

At All In, Bryan Danielson became the new World Champion after he defeated Swerve Strickland in the main event. Following All In, Jon Moxley made his return and declared that things would be changing in AEW. Ending his alliance with Danielson at All Out, Moxley suffocated Danielson with a plastic bag and vowed to become the new World Champion. Defeating Darby Allin at Grand Slam, Moxley earned his opportunity to become the new number one contender, which Danielson agreed would take place at WrestleDream.

If Danielson loses the championship, he will call time on his full-time in-ring career.

More matches were announced on the 5th anniversary episode of Dynamite. The dream match between Will Ospreay and Ricochet ended via disqualification as Konosuke Takeshita attacked both men. To determine a winner, all 3 men will fight for the title at WrestleDream.

Other matches announced included Chris Jericho challenging for the ROH title and Darby Allin hosting an open challenge.
