Further information has been provided on Dominik Mysterio after the WWE star suffered an injury in his latest match.
The reigning Intercontinental Champion suffered a shoulder injury while competing in he main event of AAA Guerra de Titanes on December 20, which saw Mysterio and El Grande Americano lose to the team of Rey Mysterio and Rey Fenix.
Discussing “Dirty” Dom’s condition on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that Mysterio does not require surgery and he should be back in action in a few weeks, likely making his return at the Royal Rumble. Additionally, it is unlikely that Mysterio will have to vacate his championship, as was the case with Seth Rollins earlier in the year:
“Dominik Mysterio, he found out he does not need surgery. What I was told today is they are looking at three to four weeks. So, it’s not a long term thing, he should be back for the Rumble.”
“The timeline is fluid, but three to four weeks is the number that he got from the doctors I think today or yesterday.”
“He got the word no surgery, which was the relief, because if it was surgery it’d be like Seth, it’d be months and months and he’d have to vacate the titles and it’s a bad time to be injured for that long.”
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select has corroborated the story, also noting that Royal Rumble week looks to be the most likely date of his return. The 2026 Royal Rumble is currently scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia on January 31.
Dominik Mysterio Picked Up Huge Win Prior To Suffering Injury
Back in November, Mysterio faced John Cena in what was Cena’s penultimate match of his career. Thanks to a returning Liv Morgan, Mysterio was able to defeat Cena and win back the Intercontinental Championship after losing the title to Cena just a few weeks prior.
Mysterio is also the holder of the AAA Mega Championship.
