MJF Avoided Fan Altercation After AEW Grand Slam: Mexico

One fan was not a fan of how MJF acted at AEW Grand Slam and attempted to go after the former World Champion.

Competing at the AEW Grand Slam: Mexico special on June 18, Maxwell Jacob Friedman faced Mistico in Arena Mexico. Bringing back his USA gimmick for one night only, the former World Champion was booed heavily from the outset.

The match ended when Friedman delivered a blatant low blow to Mistico, causing the disqualification. After the match, The Hurt Syndicate joined MJF in continuing the beatdown on Mistico. In a show of disrespect, the former World Champion then ripped the mask of Mistico put it on to further embarrass the luchador. With the angle being heavily booed in the arena, one fan was really unhappy with how things played out!

As reported by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Selecta fan went after MJF at the hotel where he was staying at. Sources in AEW stated that Friedman was ok and laughed off the issue. It was also noted that there were no other issues from the show.

What’s Next For MJF In AEW?

With the biggest show of the year, All In: Texas, just a few weeks away, there is still no clear direction for the longest-reigning World Champion in AEW history. At the inaugural event in 2023, MJF headlined the show as he defended the title against Adam Cole. One year later, Friedman lost the International Championship to Will Ospreay. Friedman is currently a member of The Hurt Syndicate, which also features Tag Team Champions Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin, along with the group’s manager MVP.
