Mercedes Mone has added another championship to her collection as she is the new CMLL World Women’s Champion.
Competing in the penultimate match of the Grand Slam: Mexico special on June 18, The CEO defeated Zeuxis to win the title for the first time in her career. Mone won the match by countering a second rope move into a powerslam to get the pinfall victory, becoming 5 belts Mone in the process.
The celebrations were cut short for Mone as she was distracted by Mina Shirakawa, who Mone defeated back in Janaury to win the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship. Taking advantage of the distraction, AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm attacked Mone after the match. Storm will defend her Women’s Championship against Mone at All In on July 12th, meaning that The CEO has the opportunity to win a 6th championship.
The victory brings Zeuxis’ reign to an end at 278 days. Zeuxis won the championship from AEW star Willow Nightingale at the 91st anniversary show back in September 2024. In addition to now holding the CMLL Women’s World Championship, Mone also holds the AEW TBS Championship, the RevPro Undisputed Women’s Championship, the EWA Women’s Championship and the ceremonial championship as a result of winning the 2025 Owen Hart Cup at Double or Nothing.
Mercedes Mone To Defend CMLL World Women’s Championship At Fantastica Mania
Shortly after Mone won the CMLL Women’s World Championship, her first defence was confirmed. Following Grand Slam, Mone was confronted by La Catalina, leading to a match between the two at Fantasica Mania on June 20th with the title on the line.
