AEW Grand Slam made its debut in Mexico on June 18th with a title match and more taking place on the show.
Following their altercation at the Summer Blockbuster special the previous week, CMLL Women’s World Champion Zeuxis put the title on the line against TBS Champion Mercedes Mone. If The CEO was victorious, she would add another title to her collection and be 5-belts Mone.
Additionally, World Champion Jon Moxley was in action in a 10-man tag team match as he teamed with The Deathriders and The Young Bucks to take on The Opps, Will Ospreay and Swerve Strikland.
Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness were the commentary team for the show.
AEW Grand Slam: Mexico Results June 18
- Adam Page opened the show and got a great reaction from the live fans. Page cut a promo in Spanish and spoke about his upbringing and the upcoming title match against Jon Moxley at All In. Page stated that he wouldn’t be wrestling on the show as he is not allowed to be in the arena for the 10 man tag match, but noted that the rule did not apply for after the match. Excalibur provided the translations.
- Atlantis, Atlantis Jr., Bandido, Adam Cole, Daniel Garcia, Brody King and Templario def. Hechicero, Josh Alexander, Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher, Lance Archer, Volador Jr. and Dax Harwood
- Kazuchika Okada defeated Mark Briscoe.
- Mistico defeated MJF by DQ when MJF hit him with a low blow. The Hurt Syndicate beat down Mistico afetr the match and attempted to unmask him, but Templario, Máscara Dorada and Bandido came in, followed by “Speedball” Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight to make the save.
- Hologram defeated Lio Rush, Ricochet and Mascara Dorada to win 4 million pesos.
- Mercedes Mone defeated Zeuxis to become the new CMLL Women’s World Champion. Mina Shirakawa distracted Mone after the match, allowing Toni Storm to blindside the new champion.
- The Beast Mortos, Jon Moxley, The Young Bucks and Wheeler Yuta defeated Powerhouse Hobbs, Samoa Joe, Will Ospreay, Katsuyori Shibata and Swerve Strickland. Adam Page tied to take out Moxley, but instead hit Matt Jackson with a buckshot lariat.
