The second 4-hour special from All Elite Wrestling, AEW Summer Blockbuster saw a major contract signing take place, a huge rematch and more!
Last week at Fyter Fest, it was announced that Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada and International Champion Kenny Omega would face off once again with both titles on the line in a winner-takes-all match. Both men met in the ring at Summer Blockbuster to make their match in Texas official.
In one of the best matches of 2024, Swerve Strickland defeated Will Ospreay in the main event of Forbidden Door to retain the World Championship. On the road to All In, Strickland faced Ospreay for a second time as the British wrestler looked to get the former World Champion on his side.
Excalibur, Ian Riccaboni and Taz were on commentary for the show.
AEW Summer Blockbuster Results
- Swerve Strickland vs. Will Ospreay went to a time-limit draw. After the match, The Deathriders attacked both men. Strickland was handcuffed to the rope and Ospreay took a superkick from a thumbtack shoe.
- Mistico defeated Blake Christian. After the match, MJF issued the challenge to face Mistico in Mexico.
- MJF, Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin defeated Mascara Dorada, Kevin Knight and Mike Bailey.
- The Deathriders returned with Adam Page tied up. Jon Moxley warned Page he needed to be focused ahead of their match at All In. The Opps made the save and Page warned The Deathriders he was coming for them.
- Anna Jay and Tay Melo defeated Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford.
- Kazuchika Okada and Kenny Omega met in the ring to sign their AEW All In contract. Tony Schiavone introduced the Unified Championship both men would be fighting for next month. Okada attacked Omega after.
- Kyle Flecther defeated Anthony Bowens.
- FTR interrupted Atlantis and his son Atlantis Jr. A brawl ensued with Adam Cole, The Don Callis Family and Brody King all getting invovled.
- Toni Storm defeated Skye Blue. Mercedes Mone attacked Storm after the match. Mina Shirakawa attempted to make the save, but was also laid out.
- Mark Briscoe, Tomohiro Ishii and Willow Nightingale defeated MxM Collection and Taya Valkyrie.
- Bandido defeated The Beast Mortos.
- Thekla defeated Queen Aminata.
- The Don Callis Family defeated Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, Roderick Strong and Daniel Garcia.
