Liv Morgan will require shoulder surgery following the events that took place in her WWE Raw match that left her with a serious injury.
As reported by Mike Johson of PWInsider, Morgan separated her shoulder in the match and will require surgery. While it is not noted how much time the former Women’s Champion will miss, Johnson adds that she will be out of action for “a lengthy period of time” and that this was the “worst case scenario” for Morgan.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select also stated that Morgan will require surgery and is expected to miss a number of months.
Morgan faced Kairi Sane on the May 16th episode of WWE Raw. Seconds into the match, Liv Morgan landed badly on her arm and rolled out of the ring. As Morgan kept holding her arm and was checked on by doctors, medical staff made the decision that Morgan was no longer cleared to continue and stopped the match. The Raw star was also helped to the back. Commentary later announced that Morgan had suffered a dislocated shoulder.
While there were no further details at that point, many suspected that Morgan would require surgery. The Judgment Day member has dealt with shoulder injuries in the past, most notably in 2023 when she missed 6 months of TV. Morgan made her return from injury in the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble match.
Kairi Sane Comments On Liv Morgan Injury
Sane was Morgan’s opponent in the match where the injury occurred. Issuing a statement on her social media page, Sane statd that she was heartbroken by what took place:
“One of the most painful things for me is when a match is decided not by wrestling, but because of an injury. I always step into the ring with deep respect for my opponent, and I train hard every day to give the audience something they can truly enjoy. Even if it was never intentional, knowing that someone was hurt in a match with me is something I carry deeply. It breaks my heart. I hope with all my heart for a full and speedy recovery. I will continue to give my all, hoping to bring excitement—not pain—to the ring.“
Reports have also indicated that there is no heat on Sane over what took place and the injury has been deemed to be accidental.
