An 8-woman tag team match and more has been announced for the January 2 WWE SmackDown, which will also be the first show of the new year.
Women’s Tag Team Champions Asuka and Kairi Sane are not short on challengers as IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley, Nia Jax and Lash Legend & Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss are all looking for matches against the champions. However, it will be Ripley and SKY who will receive the first opportunity on the January 5 Raw. Ahead of the match, it was announced on the December 26 SmackDown that Ripley and SKY will team with Bliss and Flair to take on The Kabuki Warriors, Legend and Jax.
Additionally, Women’s Champion Jade Cargill win be in action against Michin in a non-title match. However, if Michin wins, she will receive a future opportunity at the championship.
With Aleister Black and Damian Priest still at odds, both men will face off one more time on the show.
This will also be the first episode of SmackDown to return to the 3-hour format, which first took place at the start of 2025.

- Damian Priest vs. Aleister Black
