Drew McIntyre Addresses Roman Reigns Jab On WWE Raw

WWE Champion Drew McIntyre has given his thoughts on Roman Reigns following The Tribal Chief’s comments on a recent episode of Raw.

After Reigns won the Royal Rumble, the former WWE Champion had a decision to make. With Reigns guaranteed a World Championship match at WrestleMania 42, The Tribal Chief had the option to either choose World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk or WWE Champion DrewMcIntyre as his opponent on choice.

On the next episode of Raw, Reigns first teased that he might choose McIntyre, but claimed that McIntyre would be “the easy pick.”

While appearing on Busted Open RadioMcIntyre responded that while he is ok with comments being made about himself, he does not feel the same about the championship being disrespected:

“Say whatever you want about me. I can protect myself. I look after myself verbally. And to be honest, they weren’t even that bad,” McIntyre said on the show.

“It was just the stuff about the title and SmackDown and making it feel a little less than, when they’re such big superstars. Just focus on the title, focus on each other. So, I went out and did a Braveheart-like speech on the Friday because I was legitimately upset. As far as I was concerned, that was it, done. And it seems to be done. Now, they’re focused on their stuff. We’re focused on our stuff.”

Punk interrupted the aforementioned promo, leading to a war of words between the two that got personal. When all was said and done, Reigns said that he would see Punk at Mania, making it clear that his choice was out of hate.

Punk is also scheduled to defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Finn Balor at Elimination Chamber in Chicago. Whoever wins the match will likely walk into Mania as the champion.

Roman Reigns Previously Defeated Drew McIntyre

Back in 2022, WWE returned to the UK to host Clash at the Castle in Cardiff, Wales. The main event of the show saw McIntyre challenge Reigns for the Universal Championship, where The Scottish Warrior was very much the fan favourite heading into the match. After Money in the Bank winner Austin Theory was knocked out by boxer Tyson Fury, it appeared that McIntyre had virtually a clear path to the gold. However, following interference from Solo Sikoa, Reigns was able to capitalise and pin McIntyre.
