Chad Gable was revealed to be the man under the El Grande Americano mask at AAA Noche de los Grandes.
Competing in the main event of the show, the 2 Americanos faced off in a highly anticipated contest that has gripped the AAA fanbase in the build-up. lasting over 30 minutes, the finish of the match saw Original Americano use a chair on the other Americano and apply the ankle lock. Americano fought out of the submission and hit Original Americano with a headbutt to pick up the victory.
After the match, Original Americano stated that he originally put on the mask because he hated luchadors. However, after admitting that he was not able to fight the spirit of the fans, Original unmasked to reveal his identity as Chad Gable. Gable told Americano that while he was the first Americano, his rival would not be the only one. Gable also added that he didn’t know when, but he would return to AAA.
After Gable exited the ring, Americano was raised up by Bravo and Rayo and celebrated as the show went off the air.
Chad Gable Brings El Grande Americano Era To An End
Originally upset that he was constantly losing to luchadors, Gable went away to “learn the dark arts of lucha libre.” Following multiple vignettes, Gable debuted the El Grande Americano persona on Raw in the lead-up to WrestleMania 41. Originally set to face Rey Mysterio, Gable instead picked up a win over Rey Fenix at The Show of Shows, as Mysterio was injured.
Later in the year, Gable himself was sidelined with injury, leading to speculation as to what that meant for the storyline. A second Americano would later appear on TV, who has been portrayed by Ludwig Kaiser. At the 2026 Royal Rumble, Gable returned from injury, starting the rivalry between the 2 masked men.
