WWE has announced which two matches will open the Clash in Italy Premium Live Event on May 31.
The go-home SmackDown aired live from Barcelona, Spain on May 29. During the broadcast, commentary confirmed that the WWE Championship match between Cody Rhodes and Gunther would go on first. Much like WrestleMania 42, the first hour of the show will be simulcast on ESPN for free. The company also announced that Rhea Ripley vs. Jade Cargill for the WWE Women’s Championship would be a part of the simulcast, meaning that the match will go on second.
Rhodes and Gunther had their final face-to-face on the go-home show. Both men vowed to walk out as champions, but there was no physicality.
While not announced, it is very likely that Roman Reigns vs. Jacob Fatu for the World Heavyweight Championship will headline Clash in Italy. In a rematch from Backlash, Fatu will once again face The Tribal Chief, but this time in Tribal Combat.
The Inalpi Arena in Turin is set to host the show, along with the fallout episode of Raw the following night.
