Brock Lesnar Makes Shock Return At WWE SummerSlam

Brock Lesnar is back in WWE after more than a year away, bringing the end of SummerSlam 2025 to a shocking conclusion.

The main event of the August 3 show saw Cody Rhodes defeat John Cena in a street fight to become the new Undisputed Champion, bringing to an end Cena’s record-breaking 17th reign. After the match, both men embraced and Cena stuck around to take in the “Thank you Cena” chants from the fans inside MetLife Stadium. However, Cena’s celebration was cut off by Lesnar’s music, which saw Lesnar make his way to the ring and lay out the Hollywood star with an F5 to close out the show.

Lesnar’s last appearance was at the same show 2 years prior, which saw the former UFC World Champion lose to Cody Rhodes in the final match of their trilogy.

Brock Lesnar Back In WWE Following Hiatus Filled With Controversy

Lesnar has been away from WWE TV for the best part of 2 years as he was implicated in the Janel Grant lawsuit that was filed back in January 2024. The lawsuit accuses former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon of sexual assault and trafficking, with one of the allegations being that McMahon sent Lesnar explicit images and videos of Grant, and also offered Lesnar sex with Grant as part of  new contract negotiations. While Lesnar was not explicitly named in the initial filing, the former WWE Champion was officially referenced in later filings. The lawsuit remains ongoing at the time of writing.

The allegation saw Lesnar pretty much removed entirely from the WWE 2K24 videogame, all creative plans scrapped, and the former World Champion barely referenced on TV.
