Big E Confirms Rusev Is Returning To WWE

Big E has confirmed that former WWE star Miro, FKA as Miro in AEW, is on his way back to the company after a 5 year absence.

Appearing alongside Tyler Breeze at a Fantaics Live Session at WWE World, the former World Champion was opening trading cards and pulled out a Rusev card. After seeing the card, Big E referenced the rumours concerning a Rusev return, and confirmed that the rumours are true:

“Someone that has just been announced to return. You didn’t see that? I reached out to him, and he confirmed that the news is indeed true. I don’t know when he’ll be back, but there is Rusev. A blast from the past. And actually this is very topical because he has just announced that he is returning to the squared circle here in World Wrestling Entertainment.”

A former United States Champion, Rusev was released from his WWE contract in April 2020 in the first of many rounds of releases during the pandemic. In September that year, The Bulgarian Brute made is debut in AEW later that year. A 1 time TNT Champion, Miro competed in 36 matches while with the promotion with his last match taking place at Worlds End 2023. After asking for his release in 2024, it was reported in February 2025 that Miro’s release was granted, setting up a potential return to WWE. Shortly afterwards, it was reported that Miro was spotted at the Performance Center.

Big E Opens Up About In-Ring Career Being Over

The former WWE Champion has now been out of action for over 3 years after suffering broken neck in a match on SmackDown. While many are hoping that a return could take place, there is a possibility that his in-ring return could be over. In a previous interview, Big E stated that he was at peace if his career has come to an end.
