Forbidden Door teams were assembled, a huge face-to-face and more on the June 17 edition of AEW Dynamite.
The Owen Hart Foundation Tournament final is now set as Will Ospreay will face Swerve Strickland at Forbidden Door. Both men met face-to-face on the show to continue the build to their match at the PPV. Whoever emerges the victor will challenge for the World Title at All In.
Also at Forbidden Door, MJF and Mark Briscoe are set to go to war inside a steel cage as part of a 12 man brawl. Both the World Champion and his rival selected their teams on the show.
Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and Taz were on commentary for the show.
AEW Dynamite Results June 17:
- The show opened with MJF backstage with The Don Callis Family. MJF called out all of his challengers and declared he was still the best wrestler in the world. Don Callis then introduced team MJF for the steel cage match: Kevin Knight, Kyle Fletcher, Jake Doyle, Kazuchika Okada and Andrade el Idolo.
- Kenny Omega defeated Tony Nese in a squash match. Omega was about to speak after the match but was interrupted by TMDK’s Zack Sabre Jr., Bad Dude Tito & Mikey Nicholls. Omega retreated, and The Young Bucks and Jack Perry joined him on the ramp. Omega said they both wanted to win badly at Forbidden Door and hit his catchphrase.
- Brodidio defeated The Deathriders.
- Kyle Fletcher and Okada said that they hadn’t forgotten about the International Championship, but they were focused on the steel cage match. The camera panned down to a beaten down Tomohiro Ishii, meaning that Briscoe needed to find another partner.
- Tommaso Ciampa is backstage saying he doesn’t need 1,004 reasons why he hates Jericho, he can give him one. Ciampa respected the old Jericho who ruled AEW and New Japan, but not this 2026 version of Jericho.
- The Dogs brawled with Christian Cage and Cope. The Tag Team Champions stood tall. The Dogs will challenge for the Tag Titles at Forbidden Door.
- Mercedes Mone defeated Hazuki to advance to the finals of the Owen Hart Cup.
- Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland met for their face-to-face. Ospreay said he was supposed to be on his honeymoon, but nothing is going to stop him from chasing his dream. Strickland said that he hadn’t talked to Ospreay for a year. Strickland said Ospreay had changed, calling out his alliance with The Deathriders. Ospreay siad he hadn’t forgotten what The Deathriders did to him, but is willing to let it go for now. Following more words exchanged, Strickland struck Ospreay. The Deathriders came to Ospreay’s aid.
- Mark Briscoe revealed his steel cage team: Kyle O’Reilly, Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, Konosuke Takeshita and Darby Allin.
- Team MJF defeated Team Mark Briscoe in the main event.
