A huge World Championship match, a Casino Gauntlet match and more took place on the July 8 AEW Dynamite.
Completing their trilogy of matches, MJF put his title on the line against Kenny Omega. However, unlike previous meetings, if Omega lost the match, he would never be able to challenge for the championship again.
Additionally, Tommaso Ciampa faced Chris Jericho in the opening match of the show. A new number one contender for the Women’s Championship was also determined as a Casino Gauntlet took place. The winner will face Thekla at AEW Redemption.
Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and Taz were on commentary for the show.
AEW Dynamite Results July 8:
- The cold open of the show saw Renee Paquette interview Kenny Omega ahead of his World Title match. Omega said that if this is truly it, he would shake MJF’s hand on a job well done.
- Tommaso Ciampa defeated Chris Jericho. Ciampa attacked Jericho after the match until security intervened.
- Kyle Fletcher defeated Konosuke Takeshita to win the International Championship. Mick Foley interviewed Fletcher after the match, but Kevin Knight interrupted. Andrade then interrupted and said that he was coming for gold. A brawl ensued, with Darby Allin and an exploding skateboard also factoring into the fight.
- Jon Moxley and Will Ospreay defeated The Workhorsemen.
- The Women’s Casino Gauntlet had the following entry order: 1. Athena. 2. Maya World. 3. Skye Blue. 4. Mina Shirakawa. 5. Rina. 6. Julia Hart. 7. Thunder Rosa. 8. Willow Nightingale. Nightingale won the match and will face Thekla at AEW Redemption. Afterwards, Thekla caught Willow with a Spear. The Divine Dominion laid out The Sisters of Sin to set up Mercedes Moné to lay out both Thekla and Willow.
- Kenny Omega defeated MJF to win the AEW World Championship. MJF tried to cheat to win, but Will Ospreay prevented it. Omega vs. Ospreay was confirmed to be the All In main event.
